Dr. Jim Denison's 2013 collection of Lenten devotionals is entitled, "If My People..." and comes at a time that he believes "a Fifth Great Awakening is sweeping the nations, as more people are coming to Christ than ever before in Christian history. How can you join this great movement of God's Spirit?" He goes on to write, "in this year's Lenten devotional guide, we will walk each day with King Solomon as he leads his nation into God's presence and glory. We will commit ourselves to our Father's purpose and experience his transforming power. And we will claim his promise: 'If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land' (2 Chronicles 7:14). 'If My People ...' is more than a Lenten guide - it is God's invitation to intimacy with him. Please join us on this joyous journey."

With whom are you praying for awakening?
The First Great Awakening began with the prayer meetings of Theodore Frelingheusen.
The Second Great Awakening was sparked by Isaac Backus' call to prayer. The
Third Great Awakening was birthed in Jeremiah Lamphier's prayer meeting at Old
North Dutch Church in New York City on September 23, 1857. The Fourth Great Awakening
began in a prayer meeting led by Evan Roberts.
What did they have in common? A commitment to unifi ed prayer, calling God's people
together as they sought awakening for their nation. In the same way, our Scripture
calls God's people to "humble themselves and pray ..." The Hebrew word means to
pray in the collective, for the entire nation.
Jonathan Edwards, America's greatest theologian and key leader of the First Great
Awakening, observed: "When God has something very great to accomplish for his
church, it is his will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of his people
... when God is about to accomplish great things for his church, he will begin by
remarkably pouring out the spirit of grace and supplication."
