February 6 — Trip Summary and Parting Comments
This has been a great group of people to work with, if you could not tell from the posts. We accomplished a great deal, and enjoyed each other immensely during the process.
The Surgical team set a new record with 42 surgeries done in the OR along with multiple IUD insertions and other minor procedures totaling around 15. We ran three operating rooms on three separate days for the first time since the new wing was added.
The Village team was also a great group of hard workers, they held five clinics and dedicated one well. The totals for the five clinics were:
2330 patients seen by the providers
2711 children treated for de-worming
Immunizations - 761 women (tetanus), 67 children (most children immunized for school)
Children given vitamin A -1321
Total all treatments - 7190
We had a interesting safari at the game preserve in the Karamoja district, not a lot of animals seen and they were very skittish. The park is only two years old and the game is o the rebound from poaching etc., but the surroundings were magnificent.
