ANDREWS, TEXAS - The ignition has been switched all the way on MercyMe’s April release “Welcome to the New.” With a reinvigorated drive, the band plays with an aggression that, despite being a monster on the Christian rock scene for two decades, feels fresh and organic. MercyMe plays the County Expo Arena in Andrews on Friday, May 2.
Some might use the word “liberated” to describe the new album, and that wouldn’t be far off. “Welcome to the New” is the result of the band wrestling with its identity as a whole and individually.
The recognition of both popes resonates particularly with Sis and the San Angelo Diocese.
