ABILENE, TEXAS - The first time Mark Hewitt and a friend hit the streets to take food to the homeless, they instead gave cups of hot soup to five people selling newspapers.
And while those five were grateful for a hot meal on a frigid January day in 1995, both men knew they had missed the mark. They wondered what they did wrong and consulted with God.
