FPC-Midland Belize Mission: Music on the High Seas

From January 4-11, 2014, a team  from 1st Presbyterian Church-Midland will be traveling to the Central American country of Belize, and working with The Word at Work ministry. This will be an opportunity to reach out and share the gospel with the people of Belize while working side-by-side with the local community and The Word at Work staff on a much-needed construction project.

Music on the High Seas

Well ... maybe not the HIGH seas ... but we were definitely afloat as we made our way back to the Belize mainland from our overnight retreat at Spanish Lookout Caye. Ahead of us is a short-but-busy day in Belize City, before we head to the airport for a mid-afternoon flight that will take us back to Texas, and a connection with an evening flight that will take us home.

Tim Tam, Executive Director of our Belize mission partner, the Amarillo, Texas-based The Word At Work, has been a companion and guide throughout the week, and he was with us this morning ... and so was his guitar. It wasn't long before he and Karen Lang were going over chords for songs we have learned this week, so that we can share them when we return to Midland. It wasn't long before other team members were leaning in and joining the impromptu session.

As I have noted before on this blog, and as Karen and Tim and the rest of our team have shown over and over again this past week ... music has been an important part of this mission.
