ODESSA, TEXAS - Members of First Baptist Church of Odessa on Sunday gave away 1,200 Thanksgiving meals, what several described as a reminder of the need that remains in a community during an oil boom.
Apolonia Espinosa came with her 23-year-old son, Abel, in their first year seeking help during the holiday. If they hadn’t, she said her family would have gone to a restaurant instead of eating a Thanksgiving Day meal.
