And we are on the ground in Belize
What a day it
was, with our team in transit from West Texas to a very different
setting ... the lush green, tropical nation of Belize, where beaches
give way to vast stretches of farmland, then the mountains ... a place
of crowded cities, remote villages and the ruins of ancient Maya
temples.
Our day started
early in the morning, in Midland, Texas, as we gathered at the airport
there for a commuter flight to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport,
where we connected with a larger craft that was heading south. You may
not know this, but the 'transit' part of Belize mission is relatively
easy compared to other overseas missions, on the far side of the world
... less than an hour flying from Midland to Dallas/Fort Worth, then
less than three hours flying from DFW to Belize City.
After clearing Belizian customs, we headed outside the terminal, where we greeted by Pastor Walter
Thompson ... our team was now complete. We were also greeted by our
mission partners, Tim and Kenny from The Word At Work.
Then
it was time to load the vehicles and head west, past Belmopan, then
into the hills, where we will be staying this week. As I said before,
this is a first time for some of us, and a return trip for others ...
but we are all excited about the week ahead of us. Please keep us -
Pastor Walter Thompson, Dr. Greg Bartha, Becky Holmes, Pat Hunter, Jeff
McDonald, Chrissie Mee and Casey Smith, and our WAW partners - in your
thoughts and prayers.
