Come Church with Us
Sunday
morning had us making our first visit to the community where we will be
serving this week - the village of Seven Miles / El Progresso, located in the Cayo
District of Belize. From the national capital of Belmopan, you follow
the West Highway to Georgeville. The paved road ends at that town's
limits, and the road gets a little smaller, a little rougher as you
climb up into the hills and mountains of western Belize.
It
is here that we find Casa de Arabanza, a non-denomination church
serving this village and the surrounding area. We were introduced to
them through our Belize mission partner, The Word At Work and it is here
that legendary "B-12" team worked in January, contributing yo the
construction of an expanded building which will serve not only as a
house
of worship, but also a community center for all of El Progresso.
This week's visit and work is chance to build upon the relationships we established, the foundations we laid back in January. It was also an opportunity make new friends.
It was also a time for worship and praise, led by our own Pastyor Walter and CdA's Pastor Victor and Pastor Julio.
Meanwhile, First Prez's Chrissie Mee was busy with the kiddos in CdA's Sunday School.
After
church and Sunday school, it was time for fellowship, as members of the
team were divided up among the villagers, and treated to home-cooked
meals for lunch. This was also time for to get to know them better ...
and for them to know us better.
What a GREAT start to our time in Belize!
Please
keep us - Pastor Walter Thompson, Dr. Greg Bartha, Becky Holmes, Pat
Hunter, Jeff McDonald, Chrissie Mee and Casey Smith, and our WAW
partners - in your thoughts and prayers.
