FPC-Midland Belize Mission: Preview

From November 8th through the 15th, 2014, a team from 1st Presbyterian Church-Midland will be traveling to the Central American country of Belize, and working with The Word at Work ministry. This will be an opportunity to reach out and share the gospel with the people of Belize while working side-by-side with the local community and The Word at Work staff on a much-needed construction project ... all of this building upon a foundation of relationships that was laid early this year.

The first part of the day was devoted to faith and fellowship. worship and praise ... strengthening established relationships and establishing new relationships over Scripture and prayer, music and home-cooked meals.

As I noted in a previous post, this week's visit and work is chance to build upon the relationships we established, the foundations we laid back in January. It was also an opportunity make new friends ...

... and speaking of 'foundations,' we had a chance to visit the worksite where you will find us over the days ahead. Once again, we will be working side-by-side with the local community and The Word at Work staff doing a much-needed construction project ... this time building a house for a woman and her children, who lost so much when their home was washed away in a flood.

Most of the groundwork has been done ... the village has provided a piece of land - well above the flood plain! That land has been cleared, and a foundation laid. Teams such as our own have already been here before us, laying that foundation. Other teams will follow us, doing whatever is need to complete this project.

Tomorrow will start with a morning devotional with the people of Seven Miles / El Progresso, then it's on to the worksite!

Please keep us - Pastor Walter Thompson, Dr. Greg Bartha, Becky Holmes, Pat Hunter, Jeff McDonald, Chrissie Mee and Casey Smith, and our WAW partners - in your thoughts and prayers.
